Brindisi

The city finds itself on the Adriatic portion of the south-eastern part of the Apulian peninsula, and it is a strategic stopover for a relaxed holiday on the renowned Salento coast.
Besides the beaches, among the unmissable monuments are the Romanic Church of San Giovanni al Sepolcro and the Swabian Castle.

For sea lovers, from Brindisi you can easily reach: Lido di Carovigno, with white beaches and sea soil rich in vegetation; Lido Specchiolla, with the finest sand and granite cliffs; Torre Guaceto, belonging to the homonymous nature reserve; Torre Santa Sabina, one of the best known ones in Brindisi.

For a more culturally-oriented tourism, the city offers outstanding routes among fortresses and castles. The most famous is the Swabian Castle, commissioned in 1227 by Frederick II as fortified residence.
While the Aragones Castle is a fortress built in 1491 on the island in front of the harbour by Ferdinand I of Aragon.
Another extremely interesting site is San Giovanni al Sepolcro, a round building erected in the XI century.
