Billund

From Legoland to the stunning nature of Denmark on the trail of the Vikings, Billund is a destination to please everyone, young and old alike.

The city is known worldwide as home to the famous manufacturer of plastic construction bricks: indeed, here you can visit both the factory and the theme park, with roller coasters, reconstructions of cities, animals, sea creatures and characters, all of which are reproduced with bricks.

But that's not all, because the entertainment industry is the ground on which Billund has built its tourist offer: in fact, here you can enjoy a stay at a resort with Nordic-inspired bungalows and a water park. You can dive down heated water slides, climb on rock walls and even try your hand at skiing, ice skating and archery, attending classes on how to hunt for gems or make sugar candies.

Following in the footsteps of the Vikings, another site worth a visit is the historic brewery in Billund. Ever heard of the 'Viking blood', or mead, the honey-based drink made following a 1700s recipe? Along with mead, you can of course enjoy beer, mustard, jams and other spirits made from local berries.
If you're looking for open-air trips, the area around Billund is also rich in history and nature: unspoilt landscapes sprinkled with old churches and museums dedicated to the local traditions and culture of the Nordic people.
